EC Graz Huskies triumph against league leaders

The winning streak of Tauron Silesia Metropolis comes to an end in Graz! EC Gaz Huskies triumph against the previously undefeated league leaders. After an  1-2 defeat in the first of two games against Tauron Silesia Metropolis on Saturday, the EC Graz Huskies were determined to seek revenge.In the second game against the Polish team, they aimed to convert the momentum from the previous day into points. Just like the day before, an evenly matched, intense, and exciting game unfolded, initially favoring the Polish team due to several penalties against the Huskies. However, after 8 minutes in the first period, the Huskies took the lead with a shorthanded goal by #10 Zoe Barbier. Only 2 minutes later, #16 Tamina Schall extended their lead to 2-0, assisted by #10 Zoe Barbier and #42 Michelle van Ooijen. Despite several penalty kills and an abundance of shots from the opponents, the Graz team remained more efficient and entered the first intermission with a 2-0 lead.

In the 28th minute, Metropolis managed to score a goal, with #7 Karolina Pozniewska of the Polish team capitalizing on their 5th powerplay and beating the Graz goalkeeper #30 Karla Kronberger to make it 1-2. The game continued with this score into the second intermission.

In the third period, although no more goals were scored, The Huskies achieved their revenge for the previous day’s loss and became the first team to defeat the previously undefeated league leaders.
